Boot is rugged and steel toe works well, and the boots cool your feet nicely. These boots clean up easily with a Kiwi brush. My only complaint is I had to add some Dr Scholl insoles because the factory insoles are somewhat low. I do have flat feet which aren't typical in general so most people will probably be fine without upgrading them. They are a well made American products and as long as they keep up the quality, I'll keep buying them.
My first set of Bellevilles several years ago lasted me 3 years and were replaced due to the the boot leather wearing holes in them. These new boots are much better, at least built from better materials. These are a great boot, however I recommend getting at least a half size, if not a full size smaller than normal. The color is off. They are advertised as olive tan but are more brown than tan. The sole seems to be a darker brown than the picture. Other than that minor issue, they are great boots
I am writing this review as I am not in the military. I wear these my work boots doing residential construction. I needed something with a steel toe and Bellevilles were recommended to me. I bought my first pair a year ago and still wear them. I just bought another pair of the same and I'll keep the old ones as a backup in my truck. I wear these everyday on the work site and they have held up well. The sole has worn down some and the leather has gotten darker (probably due to dirt). They aren't light, but they keep my feet cool even in 100 degree weather. Keep in mind they run large. Great boots!
These boots never failed to deliver anything other than excellent performance and durability. Solid, comfortable, footwear is a must have for Marines, period. If it is your first time going from a civilian shoe to a combat boot, expect some adjustment to with movement, size, and weight. But right out of the box, I really couldn't ask for a better boot. They are sturdy you can have on your feet all day at not have to think about when you're training or during operations.
I got my first pair of Bellevilles in the Army a few years ago when it was time to transition from black boots to the tan ones. Great brand back then so I decided to buy the 550 ST for my job now as a commercial construction surveyer. They still make great boots and it was important that I get a boot with a steel toe as the job requires. It's saved my toes a couple of times. Great long lasting boot and the tread is barely worn after 2 years.
i wear the 550s as everyday work boots. im not in the military but i need a good quality boot and i figure if its good enough to go to war in, its fine for the construction site. these boots are pretty comfortable more noticable after long shifts
I was reluctant to purchase boots over the web but I live in a remote area with no shoe stores. Good boots but run big. Make sure you get a size smaller then normal. The wierd thing is I own a pair of Belleville OTJ boots that are several years old and I ordered the same size but the 550 STs run a lot bigger. I had to exchange them but the new ones are great. no problems.
